Alex Clifton – Interim Director

Alex Clifton
My journey into mindfulness began in 2018, during a period of personal and professional reflection. I was looking to reconnect with a deeper sense of self, and find a way to be more grounded, authentic, and conscious beyond a surface level, thoughts, or social expectations.
An eight-week course with Vici Williams, a wonderful teacher in Cornwall offered exactly that. What started as a quiet daily practice soon became central to how I lived and in a work environment, led. Over time, mindfulness has shaped not only my inner life but also how I show up in the world: with greater clarity, care, and resilience.
Professionally, I bring over 25 years of leadership experience, within the charitable and public sectors. I’ve most recently worked as a third-sector consultant with a range of value-led organisations and prior to that served as Chief Executive of a large charitable trust in Cornwall, delivering health, well-being, leisure, and cultural services to local communities. I’m particularly passionate about inclusive leadership and building supportive, mission-driven cultures where people and purpose can thrive.
As Interim Director of The Mindfulness Network, I’m honoured to be guiding the organisation through a time of transition and change. I’m working closely with the Board of Trustees, our staff team, and our wider community to help shape a sustainable and connected future, one that stays true to our roots while looking forward with confidence and care.
I live in Cornwall with my family and draw huge inspiration from the natural world. Whether it’s surfing, sea swimming, cycling, or walking the coast path, time outdoors is a vital part of my life and practice. I’m also deeply nourished by the creative arts and hold a strong belief in the power of mindful leadership to support meaningful change, both individually and collectively.
