Denise Cohen – MNCF Volunteer

Denise Cohen

I have been practising mindfulness for the past 15 years. Also having over 40 years of experience in healthcare, much of this has been in the midwifery setting within the NHS, I passionately feel that practising mindfulness can be an enabler for people in every aspect of life to thrive.

My enthusiasm for mindfulness led me to undertake a work-based teacher trainer mindfulness course. I introduced mindfulness to a local NHS Trust and raised the profile of mindfulness within maternity services within two of the NHS Trusts I have previously worked for.

I have also taught mindfulness-based approaches/courses at the local hospice on a voluntary basis where I continue to volunteer to teach mindfulness. My passion for mindfulness grew and I successfully undertook a teacher training course to teach Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) which I completed and am BAMBA registered.

Being a Health Care Professional I have extensive experience supporting staff, women and families. I also have experience teaching mindfulness in a hospice daycare setting, and I continue volunteering at the local hospice. I find volunteering very rewarding and I felt the next step would be to join the mindfulness network, I hope that I can contribute to a wider network of people with other volunteers to contribute to their mindfulness practice.
