We are excited by the prospect of welcoming you to the International Conference on Mindfulness (ICM:2024) in Bangor, North Wales from 2-6 August 2024, either in-person or online.
We have excellent keynote speakers and panelists, a diverse programme of workshops and practice sessions across 5 key strands, well over 100 research presentations, many guests who have helped shape the mindfulness community, and a range of social activities in Bangor. You can join for the full five days, or tailor your experience by participating in different elements of this rich and nourishing programme of workshops, keynotes, practices and research presentations.
Bangor University pioneered the development of Mindfulness Based Approaches and has been a major international teaching and research centre since 2001. So we are particularly pleased to be hosting the event here.
Whether you are attending in Bangor or online, our aim is to make the conference accessible and welcoming. We have kept the ticket price as low as possible and are offering bursaries for those who cannot afford the full price. Accommodation is available at a low price in university halls. Plus, a unique feature of the conference will be that wherever possible we will be recording and sharing the sessions during and after the conference, so whatever your choices on the day, you need not miss out on anything that you want to attend.
Listen to Ken and Rebecca speak about conference bursaries with trustee, Ted Meissner [< 3 minutes].
As well as those engaging with the Bangor central hub, there will be International Community Hubs in Spain, Lebanon, South Africa, Israel and China. Each of these hubs will be adding in their own local events, as well as sharing key aspects of the main programme from Bangor. We thank the organisers of these hubs for helping expand the reach of the conference.
As conference chair and director, we are deeply grateful for all who have contributed to making this a vibrant and significant event. From the steering group that first met in early 2022, through to the large team who are putting the programme together and enabling its delivery, including all that has gone into publicising and engaging the mindfulness community, to the fifty-plus partners who are supporting us, and to all of YOU who are joining the conference to learn and to contribute to shaping a vision for mindfulness in this changing world.
The ICM series of conferences has been significant in shaping the way mindfulness has developed over many years, and we are proud to be taking the baton on this year. Whether you are making the journey to Bangor, or participating in one of our local hubs, or joining us online, we look forward to meeting you and creating a community that will help shape the future of mindfulness and how it can help us with the many challenges of today.
Make sure you register soon to join us in this exciting adventure.
Warm wishes
